The Christmas Courier

Avoid disappointment on Christmas Day! Here's our tips on getting the most out of couriers during Christmas...

The first of December marks the first day of the busiest period for the transport industry. With the rise of online shopping and reselling online, there is literally freight travelling to and from every corner of Australia.

Between presents for the family, gifts for friends and acting in the place of Santa, there is all sorts of freight travelling around.

Here are some tips to survive the silly season and ensure there are no upset individuals on Christmas Day.

• Get in early! Try to get your shopping done as early as possible. The earlier you shop, the more time you are giving yourself and the couriers to deliver your goods. During this busy period, we allow approx. 7 business days for metro deliveries and possibly longer turnaround times for rural and country zones.

• Get prepared. Before purchasing, ensure that the item you are buying is packaged. Get the size/weight of the package from the seller. Ensure they are willing to print barcoded labels (that we email through!) and attach them to package. Also make sure that the collection point is available on weekdays between business hours. All of this preparation will ensure you receive reduced costs and no headaches!

• When possible, buy from capital cities or areas within a close proximity to the destination. Although this is not always possible, it can help to keep the courier costs down and speed up the delivery time.

• Contact the seller. Once you have booked a courier, ensure the seller knows all the information about the service and expectations to avoid further delays and possible extra charges.

All road service should be booked by 12th of December to ensure delivery by Christmas (expect delays between country zones). Super express services should be booked by 19th of December to ensure delivery by Christmas. Next flight services are available 24/7 however you will need to contact our BHF Couriers office for a customised quote. BHF Couriers is open until midday Friday 22nd of December and will close until the 2nd of January 2018.

Remember: Get in early to avoid Santa Claus delivering his presents on time!
